FAQs about MetaLine Surface Protection Coating

Can I apply MetaLine myself?

MetaLine surface protection coating is generally applied by specialised surface protection companies with whom we work closely.

These professionals have the necessary equipment, expertise, and experience to ensure you receive the highest quality protection. For optimal results, it’s best to rely on these experts.

Can MetaLine be repaired?

Yes, MetaLine can be repaired! Unlike many surface protection coatings, MetaLine allows for localised patch repairs. If there’s wear from continuous high impact, the affected area can be patched back to its original level of protection.

How is the surface prepared for MetaLine application?

Proper surface preparation is crucial for effective surface protection. The surface profile and finish required depend on the substrate material. After preparation, the surface is cleaned and primed with the appropriate primer for the substrate. MetaLine is then applied for optimal protection.

It MetaLine safe for contact with food products?

Yes, MetaLine is FDA approved and commonly used for surface protection in food and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. It meets the necessary safety standards for contact with food products.

Does MetaLine come in colours?

MetaLine is available in various colours with pre-tinted cartridges. We can also match special customer colours for orders starting from 100 units.

What is the recommended thickness for MetaLine application?

There is no maximum limit to the thickness of MetaLine coating. However, it is recommended not to apply it thinner than 1 mm. Most MetaLine coatings are applied within a specification range of 1 to 6 mm.

Is MetaLine UV stable?

The MetaLine series 700 has an overall weather resistance which will not deteriorate. However, its pigmentation is not UV-stabilized for purity reasons (FDA conformity). While lighter colours may experience discoloration (yellowing) over time, this does not impact the coating's performance.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

MetaLine surface protection protects, preserves and repairs even the most severely impacted components - steel, alloys, aluminium, rubber, and even concrete, and its suitable for potable water.

MetaLine is a superior surface coating commonly used in mining, general industry, construction, recycling and food hygiene. When applied, it reduces repair and maintenance costs and significantly extends product lifetime. Functional between -30 °C (-22 °F) to +200 °C (390 °F).

Abrasion Resistant Pump Coatings

The MetaLine Series 700 compound is a solvent-free two-component elastomer. It can be used to coat almost any substrate including steel, brass, bronze, aluminium, concrete, rubber, wood and most plastics. It can even be reapplied over a previous coating.

Application can be carried out by spraying, injection, or casting. Because polymerisation begins after 1 minute, application of the product to vertical surfaces (application thickness up to 20 mm) does not result in sag. After curing 24 h at 20 °C, the coating is resistant to temperatures from -50 °C to +120 °C. Polymerisation (curing) occurs without producing any tension.

In addition to its chemical adhesion properties, the MetaLine Series 700 elastomer develops additional mechanical adhesive properties (memory effect), pulling the coating against the substrate to increase the effective adhesion of the product.

Available in three hardness grades from Shore 60 A to Shore 95 A, the MetaLine Series 700 has even been assessed by the FDA as “food-safe”. The product has an erosion and cavitation resistance similar to high alloy steels and armours. At a density of only 1.05 g/mL, it is the most lightweight duroplastic wear protection available. Also increases efficiency due to its non-stick properties by reducing friction.

Also available in:

  • MetaLine 760 soft (rubber)
  • MetaLine 785 semi soft (wear protective coatings)
  • MetaLine 795 semi hard (non-stick linings)

MetaLine 100 XTM Chemical Protection is a rest-elastic coating system designed for customer specific self-coating by brush, roller or spraying. Best suited to metal or cement based surfaces against aggressive chemical liquid substances such as acids, dyes or solvents. Best results via several layers.
