Do you have the right pump for vintage?
Pumps are a crucial component of the winemaking process. Without reliable pumps, you are unable to transfer the product from one tank to the next.
There are a wide variety of pumps suitable for winemaking, these include:
Must pumps - pumps that can handle whole grapes and/or stems without damage. Common Must pumps are helical rotor pumps and lobe pumps.
Food and Beverage Grade Air Diaphragm Pumps- feature rugged construction, leak-free operations and variable flow and discharge pressures that provide operators reliable and safe pumping.
Transferring pumps - as the name suggests these transfer the liquids from one place to another. They are generally:
Lobe Pumps can handle different liquid viscosities and have gentle pumping for handling fragile solids.
Stainless Steel Hygienic Centrifugal Pumps are great for transferring wine, their open impeller design allows some soft particles, and the SS Shroud Option allows for motor protection.
Helical Rotor pumps are a progressive cavity pump for transferring whole or destemmed grapes. They have a gentle pumping action.
Peristaltic Hose Pumps are a positive displacement pump that offers gentle pumping actions. They are dry running, reversible and can handle solids.
Global Pumps offer genuine and aftermarket spares, such as:
Stators and Rotors
Diaphragms and more
Is all your machinery on-hand and serviced?
It is important that you check the state of your equipment and consider organising spare parts and servicing your equipment before vintage. This will encourage minimal downtime and less product wastage.
